The Challenge
Designing a mutual funds app comes with inherent complexity such as financial literacy gaps, regulatory constraints, and high trust requirements.
The goal was not to tell users what to do with their money, but to help them better understand what was happening in the market.
Our Approach
We approached the project using a structured UX process, starting with mobile to work within the tightest constraints.
The work began by understanding technical and regulatory limitations in close collaboration with engineering. From there, we mapped key investing journeys and decision points, shaped the information architecture across trading, portfolio, and community, and iterated extensively through low- and mid-fidelity wireframes. Flows were refined for clarity, confidence, and cognitive load before being translated into a scalable UI system.
The Outcome
The final experience balances functional investing with contextual awareness.
Users can track and manage their investments while staying informed through a live community feed, designed to surface sentiment, expert perspectives, and market signals without overwhelming or misleading users. The mobile-first foundation ensures the product can scale across features while remaining intuitive and trustworthy.
